Regular
Admission
Regular admission to the university requires graduation from a general high
school program with at least a 2.0 cumulative grade point average (gpa) as
reported on the final transcript. Regular admission will also be granted to
students who have earned a General Education Development (GED) certificate
with a score of at least 52.1 (prior to 2003) or 521 (for 2003 and beyond).
Admission on Probation
A limited number of spaces are reserved for students who possess the ability
to succeed in university studies but may not have achieved an acceptable
quantitative record. The Admissions Committee reviews applications for acceptance
on academic probation.
Admission on academic probation consists of graduation from a high school program
with a gpa less than 2.00 on the final transcript, or the GED score is 48-52
or 480-520.
Home-Schooled Students
For those home schooled students who do not a have a high school diploma from
a recognized high school, a composite score of at least 18 on the ACT or
a cumulative score of 900 on the SAT or acceptable scores on the Finlandia
University Assessment Tests is required for regular admission to Finlandia
University.
Early Admission
The university will admit an academically qualified student upon completion
of the junior year of high school. The admissions policies for regular students
also apply to early admission students. Institutional scholarships and grants
may be offered to early admission students but will not be confirmed until
final high school transcripts and standardized test scores that verify credentials
are received.
Transfer Students
Regular Admission
Transfer students who transfer at least 36 credits to Finlandia University
do not need to submit high school transcripts or standardized test scores,
except when specifically requested to do so by the university. Regular admission
is granted to students who have achieved a cumulative gpa of at least 2.0
in at least 36 credits in a degree granting program at a regionally accredited
college or university. Transfer students with a cumulative university gpa
of at least 2.0 in less than 36 university credits are also required to have
at least a 2.0 cumulative high school gpa as reported on the final high school
transcript to be granted regular admission.
Admission on Probation
The Admissions Committee may admit transfer students who were not eligible
for continuation at the last institution they attended to Finlandia University
on academic probation.

(AP), College Level Examination Program (CLEP), International Baccalaureate

Former Finlandia University Students
The Registrar, Director of Financial Aid, Director of Student Accounts and
Dean of Students must approve students applying for readmission to the university.
The Office of Admissions initiates this process once the application from the
former student has been submitted. The Office of Admissions at Finlandia University
must receive official transcripts from all colleges attended since leaving
Finlandia University before any action is taken.
A student who has been academically suspended and desires to return to Finlandia
University after an absence of at least one semester must make application
through the Office of Admissions. A student should not expect automatic readmission
after serving a period of suspension. The Registrar, in consultation with the
chair of the Academic Achievement Committee, or member, Director of Financial
Aid, Director of Student Accounts and Dean of Students must approve students
applying for readmission to the university.
An academically dismissed student who desires to return to Finlandia University
must apply through the Office of Admissions. A student who has been academically
dismissed will not be allowed to return to Finlandia University until the student
earns a grade of "C" or better in at least 12 credits of college
level courses at another regionally accredited college or university. Students
who have been dismissed for social reasons are required to submit documentation
reflecting compliance with re-admission directives.
International Students
A completed admission file includes an application for admission, $30 (US)
application fee, certified sealed transcripts from all institutions where
previous academic work has been completed (includes high school/secondary

the good health of the student. International students must show proof of
medical insurance upon arrival. The policies on transferring credit from
